Novel methodology for microplastic determination

Novel methodology for microplastic determination
The increasing use of plastics in our daily lives and in manufacturing processes often culminates in a slow degradation of the materials and the subsequent contamination of our environment and food chain. Several studies are evaluating how plastics break down into smaller parts, known as microplastics (MPs), and how they impact the health of humans, animals, and ecosystems. In this webinar we will present two new methods for microplastic determinations that aim to simplify and expedite this type of analysis. Featuring presentations by two experts in the field, we will see how the use of microwave technology has been applied to microplastic determinations by two different analytical techniques.
What you will learn:
  • How microwave solvent extraction can be applied to MPs determinations
  • How to combine microwave extraction to Py-GC–MS
  • Microwave digestion followed by gravimetric determination of MPs
  • The use of the microwave for selective digestion
