Franco Visinoni, president of Milestone, founded Milestone in 1988 as the first specialized laboratory instrument manufacturer focusing on advanced microwave technology for sample preparation.

When I think about my life and work experience until now I feel really satisfied.
Since I was a child I had a dream: I wanted to create my own company and give work to my brothers. I was the first-born of five sons, therefore I felt having lots of responsibilities towards my parents and my brothers.
I became a chemist and I started by working in a big company, but my city was too much small for me and my expectations. I began doing carrier in the marketing field and the certificate of English I obtained during the armed service was useful for what I decided to do.
I was good. I understood that I was good at surveying and anticipating the needs of the market. I founded the unsatisfied requests. The company which I work for asked me to write all the technical specifications of one of these “missing products”. I did it and they manufactured what I said. It was a success! Therefore I became the responsible for all Europe.
However, my old dream of founding my own company was not absolutely removed. I talked about it to my brother and my wife and we decided to create Milestone. When I arrived to Milan to register the new society, I read on the International Herald Tribune a declaration of Tom Watson, the founder of IBM, that I interpreted as a wish for me: “When you have a small company, a lot of fear, and a great opportunity you can do amazing things.”
Milestone today is a solid company and my co-workers are responsible for their own work. I trust in them and they trust in me. I’ve always tried to create a relaxed climate within Milestone and everyone who visits us can perceive it. Our society invests in people: we award autonomy and stimulate internal growing. We are open to new ideas and propositions.
Milestone today is present with commercial headquarters in Germany, USA, Japan, China and Korea.
